Slocum-Dickson’s Dr. Alexander Harris Offers Light Adjustable Lens in Oneida County

RxSight Light Adjustable Lens® is the only intraocular lens implant that allows ophthalmologists to customize a patient’s vision after cataract surgery. The LAL is made of material that can be adjusted after surgery using targeted ultraviolet light treatments from the RxSight Light Delivery Device. Adjustments take only a few minutes and are completed right in Dr. Harris’s office.

“RxSight’s Light Adjustable Lens allows me to provide my patients the most precise outcome from cataract surgery,” said Dr. Alexander Harris, Ophthalmologist and President of Slocum-Dickson Medical Group. “With the LAL, I can administer a more customized treatment to match my patient’s individual needs.”

Cataracts form when the eye’s natural lens begins to break down, causing hazy or cloudy vision. It will worsen until surgery is necessary to remove the natural lens and replace it with a clear synthetic one. With LAL, ophthalmologists can customize the outcome and patients can test drive their vision after surgery, unlike other lenses, which rely upon the accuracy of pre-surgery measurements to determine a patient’s post-operative prescription.
